Successful Indoor Weekend for Law Athletes

Athletes from Law & District Athletics Club had a busy but very successful time at Kelvin Hall last month with multiple indoor championships taking place.
U16 girls Pamela McNicol and Heather Baird competed in the National Combined Events Championships covering six disciplines: 800m, 60m Hurdles, Shot Putt, Long Jump and High Jump. Carluke youngster Pamela, 13, won a fantastic bronze medal with a point’s score of 2667. Fourteen year old Heather, from Motherwell, finished in 6th place overall with 2450 points. In the U14 Combined Events Championships Pamela’s younger sister Emily, 12, did even better. The talented multi-eventer put in some fantastic performances over the 5 events achieving PBs in 2 of them which helped boost her overall score to 2173 points. This was enough to secure the GOLD medal and be crowned Scottish Indoor Champion. Andrew Lawler, 16, competed in the U18 age group at the National Indoor 3000m Championships, and produced an excellent run to win bronze in a time of 9:39:42. In the same weekend, senior athletes Stephen Allan and Hilary McGrath competed in the National Masters Championships. Stephen won the gold medal in the M40 800m with a time of 2:06:12 and Hilary competing in the W45 3000m won the bronze medal in a time of 10:52:33.
